Description
A private museum housing one of Turkey's most comprehensive collections of classic cars and motorcycles.
Story
Key Museum, located within the borders of İzmir's Torbalı district, is one of Turkey's largest and most valuable private automobile and motorcycle museums, housed in a modern and industrial building. The collection was created by local businessmen Selim and Murat Özgörkey and opened its doors to visitors in 2015. The museum brings together the most iconic and rare pieces of automotive history, a result of a passion for classic cars. The collection includes over 140 classic cars and more than 40 classic motorcycles, ranging from the 1880s to the 2000s. The uniqueness of Key Museum lies not only in the number of vehicles but also in the diversity of the collection and the immaculate restoration of the vehicles. Among the exhibited vehicles are models showcasing the historical development of luxury brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche, as well as icons of motor sports from that era. Furthermore, the museum displays not only vehicles but also thousands of objects related to automotive culture, such as car mascots (hood emblems) from the early 1900s, period clothing, fuel pumps, and historical license plates. These objects offer visitors the opportunity to observe the social and technological evolution of motor vehicles throughout history. In addition to İzmir's heritage full of ancient cities and historical structures, this modern museum represents the city's industrial development and modern collecting culture. Key Museum is not only a pilgrimage site for classic vehicle enthusiasts but also an important and unusual cultural stop in İzmir that must be seen by industrial design and modern history enthusiasts.
