The most significant finding that brought Klazomenai worldwide recognition is the **Olive Oil Workshop**, unearthed during excavations, which is one of the world's oldest known organized olive oil production facilities. The history of this facility dates back to the 6th century BC, proving how deeply rooted olive oil has been not only in Mediterranean diet but also in its economy. In the workshop, stone presses used to crush olives into a paste, a heavy lever-press system used to separate oil from the paste, and pits where the oil was stored are clearly visible.
