Story

Dupnisa Cave is a natural cave system located about 6 km southwest of Sarpdere village in the Demirköy district of Kırklareli province. Formed over millions of years within marble rocks through karstic processes, the cave consists of three interconnected sections: Kuru Cave, Kız Cave, and Sulu Cave. The overall length of the system is approximately 3,200 meters, featuring underground streams, small lakes, and rich dripstone formations. Opened to tourism in the early 2000s, the *Kuru* and *Sulu* parts are accessible to visitors, while *Kız* Cave is periodically closed due to its large bat colonies. Dupnisa’s cool interior environment attracts nature and adventure enthusiasts, and its forested surroundings offer walking trails and ecotourism opportunities. The cave’s diverse microclimates, lakes, and vast stalactites and stalagmites make it significant both scientifically and visually. As the first and only show cave in the Thrace region, Dupnisa is an important natural attraction.
