Description

A waterfall in Çokran Village of Kahramanmaraş’s Onikişubat district, known for its striking natural beauty and turquoise-colored pool.

Story

Çokran Waterfall is a striking natural formation located within the boundaries of Çokran Village in the Onikişubat district of Kahramanmaraş. Often referred to locally as the “Blue Lake Waterfall” (Mavi Göl Şelalesi), it pours from a height of around 15 meters into a natural pool below, making it a popular spot for cooling off during the hot summer months. The surroundings, with dense greenery, rocky slopes and fresh mountain air, create a tranquil escape for those who want to be immersed in nature. The area is frequently visited by hikers, trekkers and mountaineering groups, and the narrow paths along the stream offer both pleasant and occasionally challenging sections along the route. Since the waterfall and its environment have not yet been heavily developed, the site has largely preserved its natural character. For this reason, visitors are encouraged to avoid lighting fires, leaving litter or carving on rocks, so that the fragile ecosystem can be passed on unspoiled to future generations. Access is generally provided by private vehicle, with a short walking segment required for the final approach. Photography enthusiasts can capture impressive shots of the turquoise-colored pool beneath the waterfall and the canyon-like formations around it. Çokran Waterfall stands out as one of the must-see natural attractions in Kahramanmaraş for anyone wishing to escape city noise, listen to the sound of flowing water and enjoy a peaceful setting in the heart of nature.
