Story
Çatalhöyük Neolithic Site is a settlement located in Çumra district of Konya, dating back approximately 7500 years. As one of the oldest and largest known Neolithic settlements in Anatolia, Çatalhöyük sheds light on the first village settlements. The structures found here generally consist of adjacent houses, and entry into the houses is provided through stairs from the roofs. Wall paintings and figures found at the settlement provide information about the social and cultural life of the period. Çatalhöyük was built during a period when agriculture and animal husbandry developed, and people transitioned from hunting and gathering to settled life, making it of great importance for understanding prehistoric human life. The findings revealed during excavations reflect in detail the human relationships, belief systems, and daily life of the Neolithic period.
