Story

Located in Karatay, Konya, the Mevlana Museum consists of the complex that includes the tomb of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi. Mevlana, who passed away in 1274, is a major figure in Islamic and Sufi thought. Originally used as a dervish lodge, the complex was expanded during the Ottoman period and converted into a museum in 1927. The museum displays manuscripts, Mevlevi hats, dervish garments, calligraphy panels and Ottoman-era artifacts. Its iconic green dome has become the symbol of the site. The Mevlana Museum is one of the most significant cultural and spiritual heritage centers in Turkey and attracts millions of visitors every year.
