Story

Dilber (Perieş) Castle is a historical settlement and fortification located within the boundaries of Uzuntaş neighbourhood in the Pütürge district of Malatya. Historical references suggest that the castle was constructed around the year 450 CE and once formed a broad defensive complex. Although much of the fortification walls have collapsed, the remaining ruins indicate the strategic position of the settlement and its role in controlling the surrounding landscape. Stone wall remnants, carved steps, and cisterns are still visible on the slopes of the site. Archaeological evidence shows that the site was in use from the Byzantine era up to the 13th century. Dilber Castle remains an important cultural heritage site illuminating the region’s past.
