Story

Thyateira Ancient City is an important ancient settlement area located within the boundaries of Akhisar district of Manisa today. Thyateira, which hosted various civilizations throughout the Ancient Age, developed especially in the Roman period as an important trade and cultural center. The city became a wealthy settlement due to intensive commercial activities and was equipped with various temples, agoras, and other public structures. Among the remains uncovered through excavation work are a theater, stadium, and cemeteries. Thyateira also holds religious importance as it is one of the seven churches mentioned in the Bible. Today, the ruins of the ancient city form a valuable area of study for history enthusiasts and archaeologists. Despite being close to Akhisar, the settlement has remained a cultural heritage that has not been sufficiently promoted and awaits discovery. The region offers visitors the opportunity to discover traces of the ancient period while providing a quiet environment reflecting spiritual and historical values.
