Apostol Han, located in the center of Muğla, is a historical building dating back to the Ottoman period.
Story
Apostol Han is located in the city center of Muğla, in the area now known as Uzun Çarşı (Long Bazaar). Although the exact construction date of the building is unknown, it is believed to belong to the Ottoman period, considering its architectural features and similarities with other hans in the region. Hans served as important commercial structures in the Ottoman Empire, providing accommodation, storage, and shopping opportunities along trade routes. Apostol Han also played a significant role in Muğla's economic and social life with this functionality. The building typically features a two-story architecture with a courtyard and arcades. The ground floors were generally used as stables and warehouses, while the upper floors housed rooms for travelers' accommodation. There are different views regarding the origin of the name 'Apostol'; some sources state that it is a Greek-origin name, while others suggest it comes from the name of one of the han's first operators. Over time, Apostol Han lost its commercial function and is now being restored and used for different purposes. During the restoration work, efforts were made to adhere to the building's original architecture, but arrangements were also made to meet modern needs...
