Story

Situated in the district of Pazar, Maiden’s Castle is one of the key defensive structures along the Black Sea coastline. Built during the Middle Ages, it served to protect the region from potential maritime threats while overseeing trade and transportation routes stretching along the shore. Constructed with durable stone masonry, the fortress has partially survived to the present day while retaining much of its original character. Its elevated hilltop position provided a wide vantage point, allowing it to function both as a lookout post and a strategic communication site. Although certain sections have deteriorated over time due to natural conditions, the surrounding landscape and sweeping sea views offer visitors a uniquely atmospheric blend of history and nature. Today, Maiden’s Castle stands as both a cultural heritage site and a noteworthy destination for travelers exploring the region.
