Story

Rize Tea Bazaar, which crowns Rize's modern face and tea culture with a world-renowned icon, is not just a trading center but also an engineering and design marvel with its massive 'Thin-Waisted Tea Cup' shaped building rising at the city's entrance. This complex, which opened its doors in 2022, was realized by the Rize Chamber of Commerce and carries the vision of gathering the journey of Turkish tea at a single point. The giant tea cup statue, approximately 30 meters high, has been nominated to the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest tea cup building and has quickly become Rize's most photographed symbol. While the building's interior floors house a tea museum, cinema halls, and tea experience centers, the observation terrace on the top floor offers visitors a panoramic view of the Black Sea and the city. The bazaar's architectural concept was designed with an open-air concept to reflect traditional Rize streets and bazaar culture. Inside are shops of Rize's most select tea brands, boutique restaurants, local food market, and handicraft workshops. Here, not only black tea but a very wide range from white tea, which is among the world's most expensive teas, to green tea and tea-essenced cosmetic products is available. The square located in the center of the bazaar hosts social events and festivals, enlivening the city's social life. The harmony of traditional stone and wood texture with modern glass and steel structures symbolizes the bridge Rize has built between its past and future. For visitors, the Tea Bazaar is a unique place to understand that tea is not just a beverage but a way of life. You can discover the aromas of teas from around the world in the 'Tea Tasting Museum', and enjoy a freshly brewed tea while watching the city from the terrace of the giant cup building. With special lighting in the evening hours, the giant glass cup looks like a lighthouse shining over the sea. Rize Tea Bazaar is the most successful example of how a city's most fundamental identity-forming value can be transformed into a global tourism icon. This point, where every tourist visiting Rize doesn't leave without buying tea and taking a photo in front of this giant cup, blends the hospitality of the Black Sea with a modern aesthetic.
